“Arch and Anth” examines societies from the origin of our species to the present day. Undergraduates will learn about humanity, its varied cultures, and how they have developed over millennia. If you are curious about the arts, social sciences, physical sciences, and history, then this is a good course for you. With an average of 26 undergraduates a year, this is one of the smaller degree courses at Oxford. 70% of the intake has been female over the last few years
Over their three years, students look at how individuals are represented by their culture, along with the growth of political and economic frameworks, and crucial developments in global history. The degree provides a great deal of freedom for students, who can choose a wide range of topics to pursue. They also decide what and where to focus their four weeks of fieldwork on: most opt for museums, laboratories, or archaeological digs. These can take place within the UK or overseas.
Studying a mix of arts and sciences at A Level (or equivalent) will likely help your application.
